An injury that is commonamongstbaseball playersis hamate fractures. To allow the players to function through the rest of their season, a special padding was manufacturedto allow cushioning when catching and hitting. It was created from orthoplast, a donut pad, and blisterderm then secured with powerflex and athletic tape daily.
Hamate will lye under the center of the donut pad Blisterderm Orthoplast Orthoplast is used to protect the area of the hamate. A section is created and shaped to the athlete. Next a blisterderm pad is placed on the inside of the orthoplast. A donut pad is then placed so that the center of the pad will be where the hamate lies.
First, the athlete extends their hand and powerflex is wrapped around the wrist and hand as a base layer.
