The Nile River The Nile river is one of the most if not the most important water source in all of Egypt. Since all people need water the Nile provides pivotal water for the people why live in such an arid climate. In the upper right hand corner is the Nile.As you can see it runs through Egypt.
The Nile part 2 Along with providing water to drink the Nile also provided water to grow the many crops the people needed to survive. When the Nile would flood the crops would grow so and be harvested. The Nile could also have bad effects. It could flood when it is not supposed to and kill the crops and people.
Egyptian farming One of the only ways to make food was to farm. They mainly harvested spices and herbs. They also harvested other foods like wheat and barley. They also grew onions and cucumbers.Though no crops could grow without the Nile. Pictured below.
Ancient Egypt Mining Along with farming mining was anthoer important natural resource. Of the many materials that were mined two major ones were limestone and sandstone. Gold and silver were also very popular to mine. Below are some other materials that were mined.
Minining part two A common tool used for mining was a pick ax. It has a sharp point for digging. It was tough enough to cut limestone. Limestone was the material mostly used to build pyramids.
Quarries A qurray is a pit were a certain stone or a rock is located. For example you would have a limestone qurray. To build a pyramid you need a qurray to produce the massive amout of rock needed to build.
Quarries part 2 It is still debated who worked in the quarries. Some think that slaves worked in the quarry. Others suggest that un enslaved people worked for pay. It is still disputed today.
Papyrus Papyrus was a plant used for writing. I t was important to the Egyptians so they had a way of writing. It was essentially what we use paper for. It allowed the Egytians to record their history and battles.
Gold • Gold was an important valuble to the Egyptians. It could be used for many things including beautiful jewarly. It could be used to build statues. It was a very precious metal.
The climate • The climate in Egypt is very very dry. There is hardly any rain. The ground is mostly sand. One of the only ways Egyptians could get water was the Nile. Any time they could get water thy did.
The climate part 2 • It was also very hot in the desert. Staying cool was essential. Drinking water was antoer key.
Major Bodies of water • A few major bodies of water that surrounded Egypt are the Mediterranean sea and the Red sea. They separate Egypt from other countries and provide. Trade routes.
