VISUAL IDENTITY CONTEST TARGETS The purpose is to draft the basic outlines as well as the application potentials and color scheme pertaining to the identity of a pioneering university in the 21st century. The aim is that the new identity will emerge from the community. Contest timetable:The contest period is March 2 – April 17, 2009.The winning entries will be announced on May 5, 2009. The visual identity of Aalto University will be published on September 1, 2009.

  11. CONTEST ENTRY • A logo (the written form of the name) or a symbol (sign + logo). The logo may also be presented as an animated version. • Three applications: a letterhead, a nameplate on the façade, and the layout of the front page of the website. • The entry must also include a written explanation for the visual concept. • The entries are to be presented in two language versions – Finnish and English. • In addition to the three above-mentioned applications, additional 1-2 optional applications may be included, for example concerning the color scheme. SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS • Entries are to be submitted in printed form and glued to a 50 x 70 cm foamcore board. • A sealed envelope is attached to the back of each entry, with the entry’s name marked on top. The same name must be displayed on the top left-hand corner of the other side of the foamcore board. The entrant(s) must fill in and enclose the contest form from www.aaltouniversity.info/contest into the envelope. • The envelope or e-mail subject field should be marked “Aalto University Contest”. • Send entrants by Friday April 17, 2009 at 3.45 pm to the address: Teknillisen korkeakoulun kirjaamo, Otakaari 1 F, FI-02015 TKK or kirjaamo@tkk.fi.   13. WORKSHOP & CONTEST SUPPORT Professor Marjatta Itkonen will hold a workshop for the contest on March 23–24, 2009 (both days) between 1.00– 6.00 pm at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Attending the workshop requires advance registration by March 18, 2009 to: contest@aaltouniversity.fi. Questions concerning contest entries are to be sent to: contest@aaltouniversity.fi.
