  1. How can our actions make life better in Kibera? Starter Activity: • Imagine that you are David and three months ago you picked up a leaflet from the Kicoshep Youth Centre and you now go there often. • Read the leaflet from Kicoshep (funded by Unicef) • List the ways the centre has helped you.

  2. Improving Life in Kibera Learning Objectives: • To analyse and evaluate evidence to draw and justify conclusions. • To understand how places are changing and the implications of this change for people.

  3. So... what is happening in Kibera? Your Task: • In pairs you are going to complete a “hot seating” activity. • One of you is a journalist researching the impact that the Kikoshep Youth Centre has had on the people living in Kibera –you will get questions to help you from your teacher. • The other is to role play David and his responses to the questions based on your knowledge of the youth centre and its impact.

  4. The Finished Article Your Task: You are to rewrite your interview findings as a newspaper article. Here are some questions to help you with your written report. • What are the main ways that Kicoshep youth centre is helping young people living in Kibera? • How does the Kicoshep youth centre compare with a youth centre in your local area? • Is running Kicoshep a good way to spend Unicef money? • What other projects might help people living in Kibera?
