Budapest - General information • 1.8 million inhabitants (2.5 million incl. agglomeration) • Area: 525 km2 • 23 districts • GDP 34% • The Danube divides the city into two parts.

BKV – Transport developments • Continue the procurement of new trolley buses • 6 low floor buses were purchased in 2005 (Ganz Solaris) • 39 more vehicles by 2008 • The full trolley bus fleet will be of low floor vehicles with these 45 buses
BKV – Transport developments Development of metro lines • Millenium Underground Railway - 1996: reconstruction • Metro Line 2 (East-West underground) - 2003-2008: reconstruction - different sidewalk pavement for people with visual impairment

BKV – Night service • Night bus service was expanded in 2005 • 29 lines with 1585 stops • Weeknight traffic increased from 24 000 to approximately 40 000 • Weekend service rose from 32 000 to about 56 000
Future prospects • BKV would like to preserve its determinant role in Budapest urban transport • BKV would like to improve the level of its services • BKV would like to be an integrated, regional transport operator
