“Embracing Change To Experience Life!” The Abundant Life John 10:10
John 10:10…. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (NIV)
INTRODUCTION Satan is the thief.... He comes to kill and destroy … your ETERNAL DESTINY!
What are the 3 MAIN THEMES? Let’s look into them together this morning!
MAIN POINTS 1. Don't Let Your Life Be Marked By UNFORGIVENESS
Matthew 18:21,22…. “ (v.21) Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?’ (v.22) Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’”(NIV)
FORGIVING involves something that happened as if it had never occurred. .... not simply an act - it is an attitude!
UNFORGIVENESS In The God / Man Relationship B)
1 John 1:9…. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (NIV)
When we admit our sin, we find, paradoxically, that God removes it.
CONFESS “homologomen” • implies that we must…. • ACKNOWLEDGE • that our sin is sin. • ADMITthat • we committed it.
Once we confessed our sin, the character of God guarantees FORGIVENESS!
2. Don't Let The Things Of This Earth POSSESS You, Rather BE POSSESSED By Heaven
Luke 12:33,34…. “ (v.33) Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, ….
Luke 12:33,34…. …. where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. (v.34)For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (NIV)
Definition of WORLDLINESS The “world” (Greek, kosmon) describing the world system which Satan has arranged in his attempt to established a kingdom without God. 1 John 2:15,17
A person’s ATTITUDES comes from one source or another – either God or the world.
A) The Lust Of The FLESH
B) The Lust Of The EYES
C) The Pride Of LIFE
3. Though The "BURDEN" Is Light, We Still Have "ONE TO CARRY"
A) The Burden Of "HOLINESS"
Sermon on the Mount.... Matthew 5:21…. “You have heard it said to the people long time ago, ‘Do not murder,’ but I tell you don’t be angry.” (NIV)
A standard God wanted from His people! Spirit of the law
Matthew 5:48…. “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (NIV) Whom do Jesus mean by one that is PERFECT?
PERFECT “teleios” means “without blemish” (cf. Exodus 12:5). It means the one in whom is the mind which was in Christ and who so walks as Christ also walked.
B) The Burden Of "TESTIMONY"
Matthew 5:16…. “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (NIV)
WORKS is “erga” – connotes “entire life-style.” People must be able to see God in us – see God at work in us – changing and transforming us.
C) The Burden Of Ministry To Others
Matthew 20:26-28…. “(v.26) Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, (v.27) and whoever wants to be first must be your slave – ….
Matthew 20:26-28…. …. (v.28) just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (NIV)
First,Jesus took up the basin and the towel and washed the disciples feet. (John 13:4,5,14)
Second, the Good Samaritan took the time to care for his enemy. (Luke 10:30–35)
