SECRETS OF THE ABUNDANT LIFE (5) • Final lesson in series concerning secrets of "the abundant life" (Jhn 10:10 ) Jesus offers • We have examined four of these "secrets" • Secret of living is bearing fruit Jhn 15:8 • Secret of bearing fruit is abiding Jhn 15:5 • Secret of abiding is obeying Jhn 15:10 • Secret of obeying is loving Jhn 14:15 • "What is the secret of loving?"

Just to see him smile, makes my life worthwhile. To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him And I do. • Brethren who love one another are those who have made the effort to know each other • So it is in our relationship with God Jhn 3:16; 1Jhn 3:16; 1Jhn 4:8

SECRETS OF THE ABUNDANT LIFE (5)The Secret Of Loving Is Knowing • THE SECRET OF LOVING IS KNOWING • Knowing God, then, is the first major step in the process of living "the abundant life": • By knowing God, we come to love Him • By loving Him, we will obey Him • By obeying Him, we will abide in Him • By abiding in Him, we will bear fruit • By bearing fruit, we will experience the joys of abundant living • How can we come to know God in such a way as to produce this 'chain-reaction' that leads to the abundant life?

SECRETS OF THE ABUNDANT LIFE (5)The Secret Of Loving Is Knowing • THE KEY TO KNOWING GOD • We come to know God through communication • He speaks to us through Bible 2Pet 1:21; Jhn 16:12-13; 1Cor 14:37 • We speak to God through prayer Phil 4:6-7; 1Thess 5:17-18 • Value of God's Word in bearing fruit described Psa 1:1-3 • The value of prayer to receiving blessings from God was taught by Jesus in Matt 7:7-11 • We come to know God through experience • Note Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians Eph 3:14-21 • Experiencing blessings from God will help us know Him better and love Him more Psa 116:1-2

SECRETS OF THE ABUNDANT LIFE (5)The Secret Of Loving Is Knowing • We find, then, that "the abundant life" can become a self-perpetuating cycle! • (Song) “The Longer I Serve Him” Since I started for the Kingdom, Since my life He controls, Since I gave my heart to Jesus, The longer I serve Him, The sweeter He grows. • Chorus: The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows, The more that I love Him, more love He bestows; Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows, The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows. Ev'ry need He is supplying, Plenteous grace He bestows; Ev'ry day my way gets brighter, The longer I serve Him, The sweeter He grows.

SECRETS OF THE ABUNDANT LIFE (5)The Secret Of Loving Is Knowing • We find, then, that "the abundant life" can become a self-perpetuating cycle! • If we are willing to "know God" (by giving Him our “minds” as we read His Word and pray) • Then we will "love God" (and give Him our “hearts” as we learn of His love for us) • Loving God we will then "obey God" (and in so doing, give Him our “wills” since we are motivated by love) • Obeying God, we will "abide in Him" (and benefit from His strength) • Abiding in Him, benefiting from His strength, we "bear fruit" (and enjoy the blessings found in the very act of doing so)

SECRETS OF THE ABUNDANT LIFE (5)The Secret Of Loving Is Knowing • Through the experience of bearing fruit and walking with God, our knowledge of Him will increase, and the cycle starts all over again • Why not expose yourself to "the abundant life" that Jesus offers? Jer 9:23-24 • If you already know of His love for you, but have not yet obeyed His gospel Mk 16:15-16; Heb 5:9, why not do so today?
