Options 1 & 2 1. Hyperbole 2. Personification Using a series of hyperbolic statements, explain to your parent/guardian why you would like a raise in your allowance. (No allowance? Explain why you would like one.) Using personification, write a few sentences in which you explain to your parent/guardian why you would like to get a (or another) dog/cat/bird. (Hint: personify the animal.)
Options 3 & 4 3. Similes 4. Metaphors Create five similes that fully illustrate how you feel about math class. Create five metaphors that fully illustrate how you feel about someone you love.
Option 5 5. Onomatopoeia Using at least five instances of onomatopoeia, describe what one might hear in this picture.
Options 6 & 7 6. Verbal Irony 7. Idiom / oxymoron Using at least four instances of verbal irony, write out a conversation you might have with a teacher someday about why you need an extension on a project. Make a list of 10 idioms/ oxymora* that you have heard before. (They should notcome for the websites linked below.)
