The Enviroment of Podkarpacie Podkarpacie is placed in the south-east of Poland. It is a very diversified area, with lowlands in the north and mountains in the south. In this presentation I would like to say something about the most interresting part of Podkarpacie - Bieszczady Mountains. The Wide Peak (1252m) Bieszczady Mountains after rain
Bieszczady Mountains Bieszczady Mountains are part of Eastern Carpathians in the borderland of Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. The highest peaks are Stoj (1677m) and in Poland Tarnica.This region is one of very few places where you can see the wild nature Tarnica (1346m)
Plants in the Bieszczady Mountains There are 3 layers in the Bieszczady Mountains: plateau (to 500m), lower subalpie forest (to 1150m) and mountain pasture (over 1150m). Most of the 2nd layer is overgrown with beech and fir woods with share of sycamore and spruce. All of the mountain pasture is overgrown with grass and rare species of flowers. On the highest peaks you can see many precious Alpine plants. Jointly in the Bieszczady mountains there about 780 species of vascular plants, 250 species of mosses, over 500 species of lichen and about 1000 species of mushrooms.
Animals The fauna of Bieszczady Mountains is very ample. It is a fothergilla of rare predacious animals and big herbivorous mammals, such as wolves, bears, wildcats, linxes, auroches and deers. Among birds, eagles, columbines and owls are an interresting group. Lately beavers were reintroduced. Pride of deers Beaver
Animals Jointly the Bieszczady Mountains are home for about 230 species of verterbrates, among them 58 species of mammals and more than 140 species of birds. A young wildcat... ... and an adult one Owl Wolf
