  17. Composite Volcano • Composite volcanoes, also called strato volcanoes, are formed by alternating layers of lava and rock fragments.   18. Shield Volcano • Shield volcanoes are volcanoes with broad, gentle slopes and built by the eruption of slow moving lava. The shape of it is kind of like a warrior's shield. • The largest volcanoes on Earth are shield volcanoes and one of the largest known volcanoes in our solar system, Olympus Mons on Mars, is a shield volcano also.
