Prepositions Mini-Lesson. What is a preposition?. A word that shows the relationship of a noun or pronoun to some other word in a sentence. Remember it this way: Most prepositions are anything a squirrel can do to a tree!

A huge list prepositions! • Look on page 69 of your workbook for a list of commonly used prepositions. Copy down the prepositions on your own paper. This does count as a grade. Remember: if it’s in your notes, you can use it on the test!!!
Object of the Preposition • Prepositions begin phrases that generally end with a noun or pronoun called the object of the preposition. • The horses jumped overthe fence. • Fence is the object of the preposition. • They showered the king with gifts. • Gifts is the object of the preposition.
