  2. Introduction • Oral communication skills will facilitate interactions at all levels • Know your topic • Know your audience • Identify best methods of emphasizing key points • Create a constructive audio/visual environment

  3. Steps • Identify points of emphasis • Allocate time to each point • Determine a logical order of presentation • Select a method of presenting point • Choose words carefully • Practice

  4. Visual Portion • Choose form of communication • text • picture • graph • Simple and clear • easy to read (18 point min) • emphasizes key points • Able to stand alone

  5. Audio Portion • Speak loudly and clearly at a reasonable pace • Choose words carefully for each visual representation • Vocabulary should match audience

  6. Coordination of Audio and Visual • Point to visual representation as you speak • Describe how to look for important info • Choose words ahead of time • Know transition into next slide • Do not apologize for bad slides
