Death and Life • Galatians Chapter 2 • Verses 1 through 10 • What is the tone of this passage? • The events all refers to occurred in Acts chapter 15. • The 14 years he refers to starts at Galatians 1:18. • This refers to Acts 9:26. • So, the events from Acts nine to Acts 15 is about 14 years.
Death and Life • While Paul is ministering at Antioch (and making the citizens of Rome on happy), a number of events are occurring. • Peter expands the influence of the church from Judea to Samaria. • Peter heals a man in the city of Lydda • Peter restores Dorcas to life. • Cornelius brings Peter to Caesarea. Christianity comes to the Gentiles.
Death and Life • Acts chapter 11. • Peter defends his ministry to Gentiles—the unclean Acts 11:18 • Acts 11:19. Barnabas and Paul bring more gentile converts into the church. • Acts chapter 12, Peter’s in person as an escape. • Acts chapter 13, Paul and Barnabas and the first missionary journey.
Death and Life • Acts chapter 15, we finally catch up in Galatians Chapter 2. • Notice that Titus is with Paul. • We often think of Titus, like Timothy, as a young man. • There is no textual support for this conclusion. • It is likely that Titus converted sometime during this first journey and joined Paul. • It may be that Paul knew you Titus before the journey. Look at 2nd Corinthians 2:13.
Death and Life • Galatians 2:11-14 • The conflict • Peter and Paul have words. • What tone of voice? Is this conflict driven by the attitude in verse 6? • Paul’s doctrine. Galatians 2:14-21 • Verse 15. Jews by nature and not sinners. One sentence captures the issue.

Death and Life • Galatians 2:20 • Start at 18 • I am under the Law • I broke the Law • I earned my death (Luke 23:40-41) • At Golgotha with Jesus, not on His Cross • Yet I lived!! • Now, I live by faith in Him– all that His resurrection means. But what does that mean?

Death INTO Life • BE • Likeminded • Of one accord (same mind, not identical mind) • Look out for each other • One mind– but whose mind? • The mind of Christ. What is that? • 6. equal with God. The mind of God. • 7. the mind of man.
