Home Networking activities in TTC • Outline: • To provide activity and future plan on Home Networking in TTC. • To provide co-ordinate activity and future plan on Home Networking in JAPAN. TTC Next-Generation Home Network system WG Submission Date:July 4, 2008
Highlight of Current Activities (1) -General- • Propose the standardization about Home Networking (HN) in Japan • Examination of architecture: The revision proposal to ITU SG9 • Interconnection: Aim at the standard establishment about a required function and functional layout, such as a transmission system, QoS, and GW control function. • Examination of a physical interface: Examination of a model in Home Connector • Standardization proposal to ITU-T etc. : Under proposal progress • Investigation and analysis of related Recommendations • ITU-T, HGI, DSL-Forum, DLNA, UPnP, etc. • Cooperation with a related organization • Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum in Japan: • Home Network WG: Examination of Technical Demands • Interconnection WG: Examination of Test bed
Highlight of Current Activities (2) • Examination of the priority for standardization • QoS and Remote management arethe first target. • Under examination about the details of QoS, and a device list now. • Cooperation with Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum • Examination upon demand conditions by the Forum side, and TTC examines a concrete plan proposal based on it. • Examination of the model for apparatus management • Examination of a use case (Model of Profiles) N-Point A-Point B-Point Access Network IP Equipment WAN IP Home NW (Wired/Wireless) Access GW NT Non-IP Home NW (Wired/Wireless) Non-IP Adapter Non-IP Equipment Support Center, Service Provider WAN-Home Intra-Home ・Setup ・Apparatus specification ・The surveillance/notice of NW connection / quality ・Apparatus state detection and a notice • Setup • Home NW apparatus management • Failure / Quality Management • (WAN / home NW)
Strategic Direction • There are no synthetically Recommendation between WAN, Access, Home-GW, and Intra-HN NW. • QoS • Operation • Connectivity • Interconnection • Their own specification in various kinds of organizations. • Isn't cooperation by its side necessity among several bodies?
Challenges • Examination of a device list • Examination of a model in HN • The definition of QoS • QoS in HN • End to END QoS • Cooperation with Next Generation IP Network Promotion Forum • Demand to QoS is considered. • Interconnection Experiments.
Next Steps/Actions • Embodiment of use case: Internet connectivity, IP phone, Contents distribution (included IPTV), Life system support (an Emergency dialing, Home security, Energy management, etc.) • Examination of a profiles • Define the details of each profiles • Specification of an interface • Examination of a specification proposal • Cooperation with related many organizations: Demand to Operation, Managements, Interconnection tests • Cooperation with the Forum intra Japan • Cooperation with the Forum inter Japan
The general tendency of QoS • This table shows the comparison of “DSCP Value” determined at related bodies. LOW Priority HIGH
