The Future No plans to close Calderwood Lodge. However… • To remain viable we need to attract more pupils • We need the support of more Jewish families • We must integrate the study of other world religions into the curriculum Q Should non-Jewish children be required to study Hebrew and Kodesh? Q What about the voluntary contributions for non-Jewish families?
Continuity and change Effects of an increasingly secular society Declining population Parental choice Absence of a catchment area Increased focus on raising attainment and celebrating achievement Build on strengths and Identify and eradicate weaknesses Maintaining the ethos Competing with other establishments in attracting pupils The lure of the private sector particularly p4/5 Funding teachers Attracting quality staff Integrating Jewish and secular education Providing for non-Jewish pupils Appointing an excellent head teacher Challenges
Remember • Calderwood Lodge is an excellent school • Attainment is at an all time high • Our pupils go on to achieve great things • We need the support of the entire Jewish community in order to continue to prosper • We need YOU!
