QSEN Teamwork Definition To “function effectively within nursing and inter-professionalteams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.” (QSEN, 2014)
High-Reliability Teams (HRT) “Teams in the healthcare community that may be considered HRTs include any set of two or more team members who consistently and effectively work interdependently towards a shared goal in a complex environment.” (Wilson et al., 2005) Examples: surgical teams, emergency room teams, emergency response teams
KSA K: Recognize contributions of other individuals and groups in helping patient/family achieve health goals S: Clarify roles and accountabilities under conditions of potential overlap in team member functioning A: Respect the unique attributes that members bring to a team, including variations in professional orientations and accountabilities S:
