Group of diseases characterized by the production of Hb S resulting from the inheritance of a beta S gene and a gene for other abnormal hemoglobin which polymerizes with Hb SHb S molecules co-polymerize most effectively with other Hb S molecules and then in decreasing order Hb C, D, O, A, J, and F70% Hb S and 30% Hb F not associated with clinical disease.
