Introducing RELIGHT • An Efficiency Vermont lighting program designed to: • Promote the use of lighting design professionals to identify and pursue significantly increased energy savings on lighting retrofit projects • Reduce the cost barrier of working with a lighting designer through comprehensive rebates
Increased Energy Savings • Comprehensive lighting design can yield significantly more energy savings compared to a standard 1-for-1 retrofit • Light levels • Lighting layout • Fixture type • Controls integration 2010: RELIGHT projects (27) averaged a 56% increase in energy savings vs. the target baseline
Lighting Design Professionals • A RELIGHT participating lighting designer is someone who: • Is Lighting Certified (LC) by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) – or – • Is a Vermont-licensed Professional Engineer (PE) • Has agreed to program requirements outlined in the RELIGHT Designer Agreement
RELIGHT Program Goals • Increase energy savings on lighting retrofit projects through efficiency, design and controls • Target average 40% increase over standard “1-for-1” retrofits • Widespread use of lighting designers • Maximize energy savings • Improve lighting project satisfaction for customers • Advance lighting knowledge among Vermont design professionals • Use of IESNA best practices • EVT-sponsored NCQLP Lighting Certification exam in Burlington (Nov 2010)
RELIGHT Required Deliverables • Facility Audit • Detailed accounting of facility info and existing lighting • Completed RELIGHT Analysis Tool • Facility info, audit results, proposed equipment • Design Recommendations • Summary of suggested equipment upgrades • Equipment Specification • Non-proprietary, if requested by customer
RELIGHT Rebates • Audit & Design • Intended to cover a sizeable portion of a Lighting Designer's fees associated with required RELIGHT deliverables. ◦ $500 + 3 cents / square foot (K-12 schools) ◦ $500 + 1.5 cents / square foot (other building types) • Performance • Rewards exceptional and comprehensive design achieving energy savings beyond the RELIGHT target baseline. The Performance rebate has a baseline of $500 and escalates with kWh savings. • Equipment & Installation • Standard Efficiency Vermont lighting equipment incentives apply and will be calculated by an assigned Energy Consultant.

Ineligible Projects • Per Customer Agreement: • Confirm that your project is eligible: interior commercial lighting retrofit projects ≥ 10,000 square feet.
What’s Next? • Designer review & sign RELIGHT Designer Agreement and Efficiency Vermont Non-Disclosure Agreement • Upon receipt of a completed agreement, EVT send an e-mail to the designer with the following attachments: • Electronic copy of the RELIGHT Customer Agreement • Working copy of the RELIGHT Analysis Tool • Work flow process document • Non-proprietary specification guidelines
What’s Next? • Designer may begin RELIGHT projects immediately upon receiving a copy of the 2011 RELIGHT Analysis Tool • Designer will be listed on the Efficiency Vermont RELIGHT web page as a “Participating Designer” within 10 business days • All project questions & submissions should be directed to relight_intake@efficiencyvermont.com.
