Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites - CGMS • Partnership with CNES, EUMETSAT, ISRO and NOAA • Global system aboard polar-orbiting satellites: • Current spacecraft: • NOAA-15/16/18/19 (USA) • Metop-A/B (EUMETSAT) • SARAL (ISRO) • Future spacecraft: • NOAA: Polar Free Flyer (2017), then TBD (~2022) • EUMETSAT: Metop-C (2017), then EPS-SG (~2022) • 21,000 active platforms; 1,900 system use agreements; 115 countries • Major applications: Wildlife Studies, Meteorology/Oceanography, Fishing Vessel Monitoring, Ship Tracking (anti-piracy) • Data Latency Requirement: 60-mins (w/30-mins strongly preferred) • Frequency uses: • Platforms to Spacecraft: 401.65 MHz (all/now); 399.9-400.05 MHz (2017+) • Spacecraft to Platforms (Metop-A/SARAL): 465.9875 MHz • Spacecraft to Ground Stations: 1695-1710 MHz Argos Data Collection & location System (Argos DCS) EUM/SIR/VWG/12/0???, v1, 10 July 2012
