UNFPA’s Mission Operating since 1969… UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is an international development agency that promotes: the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect.

PSB Teams • Headquarters: conduct pre-qualification exercises and provide procurement services to HQ, NY. • Contracting: develop LTAs with UNFPA major suppliers, supplier monitoring and contract management. • Humanitarian Logistic and Emergency: provide assistance and training on logistic and in emergency situations. • Regional Teams: • Africa • Arab States and Eastern Europe • Asia / Pacific • Latin America and the Caribbean.

UNFPA Quality Standards • WHO pre-qualification required for oral, implant and injectable contraceptives • WHO approval for pharmaceuticals • Pre-qualification required for condom and IUD • (managed by UNFPA Copenhagen) • Evaluation Criteria: • 1) Documents (certificates, ISO) • 2) Factory inspection, • 3) Quality control (sampling and testing) • 24 pre-qualified condom manufacturers • 8 pre-qualified IUD manufacturers
