  1. Brushing Your Dog’s Pearly Whites Have you ever brushed your dog’s teeth? It’s as important for your dog’s dental hygiene as it is for your own! Use these tips from veterinarians Derby to brush your dog’s pearly whites with ease: Get Your Supplies Gather everything you’ll need for brushing in a quiet, well-lit area of the home. This includes a pet-specific toothbrush, a toothpaste made specifically for dogs, and a few tasty dog treats. When you’re ready to begin, call your dog to you to get started. Start Brushing Put a bit of the toothpaste on your finger and allow Fido to smell and taste it. Then, dab a bit on the brush and start gently brushing one area of the mouth. As your dog continues to get comfortable, continue around to other areas of the mouth to get all of the teeth. Focus on the outer tooth surfaces, which is where plaque tends to accumulate the most, and reward your pup with a few treats when you’re done. Keep It Up Consistent brushing is key for giving your dog good dental health. Brush Fido’s teeth a few times per week, at least! Does your dog need a veterinary checkup?
