Learning Objectives By the end of today’s class students should be capable of… • Identifying some of the themes that are most prominent in Matthew and Luke based on the way that they each tell the story of the Sermon on the Mount/Plain • Explain what we can learn about the Eucharistic practices of the early Church based on the Gospels and the Didache

  3. Questions for Analyzing the Sermon What are the main similarities and differences between the two accounts of the Sermon? If you had to pick one point/theme that is most important to each Gospel, based on the way that they recount the story of the Sermon, what it would be and why? (i.e. what clues can you find to indicate the author’s emphasis in the way the story is redacted by Matthew and Luke?)
