  2. Vocabulary pg 27 • Climate- kind of weather a place has over a long period of time. • New Jersey’s Climate • Summer – Hot and Humid • Winter- Cold and precipitation • Spring- Climate slowly becomes warm • Fall- Cool and Dry

  3. Vocabulary pg 27 • Precipitation- water that falls to Earth’s surface as rain, sleet, hail, or snow. • Nor’easters- strong storms that bring high winds, heavy snows, and freezing cold. • Occur in Winter

  4. How does location affect climate? • Northwestern Region – coldest area in state • High elevations have cooler summers and colder winters. • Summer temperatures – 75 degrees • Winter temperatures – 26 degrees

  5. How does location affect climate? • Southern Region- milder climate • Ocean brings cool breezes in the summer and warm air in the winter. • Warmest area in the state • Cape May- • Winter temperatures do not go below 34 degrees

  17. Sterling Hill Mine Tunnel An old mining tunnel at the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in New Jersey. This was a zinc mine that operated up into the 1980's. It was the last underground mine in New Jersey.
