  1. Integrating Quotes You do not need a citation as long as you name the artist and song title.

  2. Ben Fotter wears french fries on his t-shirt: “Whenever I think of fries I want to eat some”.

  3. What is the rule? • If it is a complete sentence before the quote it gets a colon to integrate. • What is a complete sentence? One that you could put a period at the end of and it would make sense. • Independent Clause! Subject and Verb!

  4. Would this get a colon? • Josh begged “Can we be friends?” • NO! Because “can we be friends” is part of the sentence Josh begged…

  5. How about.. • Josh begged on his hands and knees “Can we be friends?” • YES! Because Josh begged on his hands and knees is a complete sentence.

  6. Charles and Riley dress up on the days they have baseball games: “It makes us feel like professionals. Professionals who WIN!”

  7. Khloe’s best friend and confidant is Tiera Manu. “We are practically inseparable.”

  8. “We are practically inseparable.”

  9. Ms. Bennett loves Zumba. She exclaims “I love Zumba!”
