  2. Metaphor: A Definition Definition A metaphor is a figure of speech in which an expression refers to something it does not literally denote to suggest a similarity. Example “The ship plows the sea.”

  3. Simile Definition A word or phrase by which anything is likened, in one or more of its aspects, to something else. Example A shipsailing a sea is like a plowplowing a field.
