E N D
DEDHAM HIGH MARAUDERS Comparative Study Bay State Conference and Tri-Valley League The mission of the Dedham High School Athletic Department is to provide enriching experiences which complement the education students receive. Coaches and staff teach student athletes the values of self-discipline, respect, and teamwork. The athletic department provides a safe, and healthy opportunity for competition within the framework and guidelines of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), and the Bay State Conference. The privilege for student-athletes to participate in high school athletics will provide them a chance to learn invaluable lifelong lessons and have learning experiences that will take them far beyond the court, field, track, or ice rink.

Bay State Conference Schedule consists of 11 conference matches on nine dates (there is one quad). Play every team in the league once. Tri-Valley League Currently there are five schools with wrestling. The schedule would consist of either five league duals or possibly competing twice for 10 league matches Wrestling Our wrestling team has done very well against Tri-Valley competition, we are 9-0 vs. Hopkinton, Holliston and Bellingham the last three years. However we have been competitive in the Bay State the last three years, improving every year.
Girls Swim & Dive Bay State Conference Swim & Dive Participates in the Fall (more competitive season) There is a 10 game schedule Tri-Valley League Swim competes in the winter and is co-ed. Boys and girls swim in separate heats. There are 5 schools that have swim in the winter. Schedule would consist of 5 dual meets once around. Our team has done well in the Bay State over the years, earning a Bay State Conference Championship in 2005. Moving to the winter opens up swim to boys. The change in season may affect participation both positive and negative. We would have to secure more non-league contests.
Girls Ice Hockey Bay State Conference There is a full conference with 12 teams. This gives us a 16 game league schedule. The success of the girls program in recent years has only been matched by the Field Hockey, Girls Soccer and Boys Basketball Programs. Ice Hockey has earned 3 State Championships since 2001. Tri-Valley League There are three teams in the Tri-Valley, there is no Girls Ice Hockey League. Medfield and Dover-Sherborn play an independent schedule. Westwood plays in the Southeastern League.
Girls Ice Hockey Schedule Bay State Conference Braintree (1) Brookline (1) Framingham (1) Needham (1) Newton North (1) Weymouth (1) Milton (2) Natick (2) Norwood (2) Walpole (2) Wellesley (2) Tri-Valley League Medfield (2) Dover Sherborn (2) The schedule would be independent, making calls to secure 16 additional games The independent schedule would not give the girls a chance to win a league championship. The only way they would be able to qualify for state tournament is by winning 50% of their games. Our opponents in an independent schedule potentially can be very tough, both competitively and for travel.
