  2. Technology of the 60’s • Televisions – Around the mid 60’s television had became a very popular way for people to communicate. In 1965 they said about 9 in 10 families owned a television and they were available pretty much everywhere in Australia. • Satellite and telecommunications – The 60’s was when global communication became available by using satellite technology. Satellite technology was very good for Australia it made it possible for us to be able to communicate with rest of the world. It gave us a chance to exchange information which made changes to television viewing and telephone communication. • Television and Vietnam war – For the first time in history the technology of television was able to capture images of the war and show the world.

  3. In 1962 the first ever computer video game was invented. This game was called Spacewar. • Also 1969 the Arpanet, the research-oriented prototype of the internet was introduced. • The first ever minicomputer was marketed in 1964 • In 1960 the first ever laser was demonstrated by Theodore Maiman.

  4. Changing of fashion • Fashion in the 60’s was made up of boasting colourful fabrics and bold designs. The 1960’s started the trend of unisex clothing which included denim jeans which both men and women wore regularly. • “mod fashion” short for modern fashion was known as kind of a youth style, which spread all over the globe. Mod fashion included slim fitting clothes and had bold shapes. Every garment was always bright coloured and it was also very affordable.

  5. Also in 60’s fashion rising hemlines and mini skirts were major “thing”. In other years skirts were always at the knee. So when these mini skirts came out there was a big controversy at first. Mini skirts did not only represent a fashion landmark it also represented a general culture of rebellion that characterised the 60’s. The mini skirt was also kind of like a feminist movement which gave a right to women to proudly display their bodies in which every way they want. • Towards the end of the 60’s hippie fashion started to come in. The hippie clothing was inspired by non-western cultures. Natural fabric and tie-dyed prints became very popular. Bare feet or leather shoes was a hippie fashion and also making your own clothes and accessories was a very big thin.

  6. Pop Culture • Music- music in the 60’s was in an era of all hits and radios stations only played a variety of songs being recorded. The rise of the counterculture movement created a rock, soul, pop, reggae and blues. There were many significant events that happened for music in the 60’s. Woodstock was a major music festival in the 60’s. The festival was on a 600 acre dairy farm and it went for 3 days. • Film- There was a big change in film in the 60’s, they started to put sex and violence into movies which caused a lot of controversy. They also turned extremely dramatic as the cultural revolution started. They were also able to experiment with explosion of light weight affordable cameras.

There were many major events that happened in the film industry in the 60’s these included; All movies were made in colour, the decline end of the Looney tunes, the rise of independent work of producers without studio system and many more. • Television- Television in the 60’s was made up of American TV series these included; Bewitched, star trek 1, the twilight zone, My three sons, the tonight show and many more. But the most watched show in the 60’s was the Flintstones with about 40 million views and episode. Also in the 1960’s Walt Disney the owner of Walt Disney Co. died.

  8. Assassination of JFK • John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the 35th president of the untied states. Kennedy was fatally shot on a Friday afternoon November 22nd whilst he was riding in a motorcade through DealayPlaza in Dallas, Texas. The bullets struck Kennedy in the neck and head and one had struck the Governor in the chest. They rushed the president to the hospital but not much could be done, but the Governor survived and was seriously wounded. Not long after the shooting they had arrested a man who had later been convicted for the murder or JFK.

  9. JFK’s casket was moved from the white house to the capitolon a caisson. The ceremonial details were modelled by the funeral of Abraham Lincoln. Crowds of thousands of people lined the streets of Pennsylvania Avenue and many wept at the sight of the caisson. Whilst JFK’s body laid in the capitol rotunda for 21 hours about 250,000 people came and payed their respects. Monday November 25th 1963 President JFK was laid to rest at the Arlington National Cemetery.
