  4. Open Cylinder then turn it Off Scott Richey 2001

  5. Bleed High Pressure Line • Bleed the high pressure line for approximately 5 seconds. • This flushes the line to prevent NO2 build up. Scott Richey 2001

  6. Connect the high pressure hose to the back of the machine. Scott Richey 2001

  7. Look at the pressure gauge on the front of the machine. You should have a pressure read out. Scott Richey 2001

  8. Turn on the machine. You are now ready to purge.

  9. To save time Scott had the purge setup prepackaged as shown here. Include the directions in the prepackaged setup to complete assembly. Scott Richey 2001

  10. Assembled Purge Setup Scott Richey 2001

  11. To start purge, set Nitric to the highest setting. Scott Richey 2001

  12. Turn O2 cylinder to flush. Scott Richey 2001

  13. Look for alarms in the upper left corner of the screen. You should see 3. The 1st will be high NO2. You shouldalso see high NO2in your measured values. Scott Richey 2001

  14. The 2nd alarm will read “Low NO/ NO2Pressure” & the last alarm will be “Delivery Failure” Scott Richey 2001

  15. Surgery Set-up

  16. Attach gas delivery device to Anesthesia machine. Scott Richey 2001

  17. You will need a 6 inch piece of tubing & adapter for connecting the gas sampling line to the anesthesia circuit. Scott Richey 2001

  18. Connect the gas sampling line to the inspiratory side of the anesthesia circuit. Scott Richey 2001

  19. When delivering NO at concentrations of > 40 ppm, make sure anesthesia is providing enough flow to prevent NO2 build up. Six Liters/min should be adequate. Scott Richey 2001

  20. Transport Set-up

  21. Connect the green O2 line to the O2 cylinder. Scott Richey 2001

  22. Attach BVM to the “Christmas Tree” connection on the back of the machine. Scott Richey 2001

  23. Turn on the O2 and you should see a ball rise on the right hand side of the machine. This shows that you are delivering NO. Scott Richey 2001

  24. Ventilator Set-up

  25. Hook up NO delivery device to inspiratory side of ventilator. Scott Richey 2001

  26. Place anesthesia sampling line on the inspiratory side of the ventilator circuit six inches away from the Y. Scott Richey 2001
