The ABCDs of Well-stated Objectives • Audience: P.6 students • Behaviour: Identify and utilize the active & passive voices accordingly • Conditions: Students know how to identify the two voices used in sentences independently • Degree: • Students are able to differentiate the two voices in the Simple Present & Simple Past Tenses • They are able to change from the active voice sentences into the passive ones, and vice versa • They can make sentences with the two voices to describe pictures accurately

  10. How to form Passive Voice? Verb to be (Tense) + Past Participle “… I was only hired a week ago.”

Why do we use Passive Voice? • When the agent is unknown, unimportant or obvious from the context • To make more polite or formal statements • When the action is more important than the agent, as in processes, instructions, events, reports, headlines, news items, and advertisements • To put emphasis on the agent
