Residential High density Low density Dwellings Busy Quiet Industrial Commercial Residential Green field site Brownfield site Urban Congested Re development Renovation Thriving Deprived Derelict Traditional Sleek Vibrant Multicultural Bingo with geographical terms helped develop a language with which to describe places the students were familiar with. This could be expanded to places they are unfamiliar with.

Sheffield Monopoly • You must include: • 8 property blocks-these are themed by location or type in Monopoly (6x3 and 2x2) • 4 Transport links (instead of stations) • 2 municipal services or buildings(instead of electric co. and water works) • 3 leisure activity sites (instead of community chest) • 3 chance squares • 1 Go to Jail! 1 Free Parking • 1 Jail 1 ‘GO’ Square • 2 tax squares (think of local examples) A creative way for students to discuss , evaluate & share ideas about their place.

  6. 3... is a magic number • How can we gather evidence? • What research methods can we use? • What equipment do we already have? • Who will we ask? • What will we ask? • In pairs, come up with: • 3 possible questions, • 3 different types of people you would ask and why, and finally • 3 ways of recording their answers, Questionnaires provide a way for pupils to gather data about people’s views of places using speaking & listening
