Download Tiger Streets for a county. GO TO: www.GeographyNetwork.com. Click Data tab. Click Downloadable Data. Scroll down and click Census 2000. Click Preview and Download. Click California. Select Line Features – Roads and then click Submit Selection.

Scroll down and check San Bernardino county (Or the one you need)
Double click the ZIP file to open it You may have to Extract the files WinZIP
Select the two files and drag them (or extract) to the c:\gistutorial folder
Double click the second ZIP file (yes there was one zip file in the other)
Select the three files shp, shx and dbf – These three make a shapefile Then copy or extract all three files into the c:\Gistutorial folder
Click the Add Data button, navigate to c:\Gistutorial click the shp file, click Add
Click Categories and in the Value Field dropdown, click CFCC
Click Add all values and click OK - CFCC codes are Census Feature Classification codes. The Census assigns a unique code to each type of road. Interstates are A11 and A15
Right click on the line next to A11 and click Mars Red Right click on the line next to A15 and click Mars Red Right click on the line next to A41 and click 10% gray
Right click the layer and click Open Attribute table, 167122 roads in sb co Close the table
Double click “ZIPL”, click =, type in ‘92374’ In the single quotes.
Right click the layer and click Selection, and click Zoom to selected features
Right-click the new layer and click Label features to turn the street names on
