Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade Case Studies of EIPs Attempts in Egypt “Marble Technology Park Shaq Al-Thu'ban” • Description : • Shaq Al-Thu'ban (South of Cairo) contributes in the total production of Marble and Granite with 3M tons/year. • The amount of waste out of this industrial cluster is estimated to be 1M tons/year, where only 5% of this waste is being used in different industrial activities such as cement bricks, cement and concrete mix and paints.
Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade Case Studies of EIPs Attempts in Egypt “Marble Technology Park Shaq Al-Thu'ban” • Description: • The park is proposed to build a constitute of many phases: • The first phase will be the waste collection, sorting and processing. This will be done in the pre-processing industrial unit, which will be located in the upper part of the land. • The second phase will be the interaction between the labs, incubators and pre-processing industrial unit, where the incubator will use the 'know-how' of the technologies being tested in the labs, and the raw materials from the pre-processing industrial unit, to create a small scale production line. • The third phase will be the marketing of the new technologies and the patent registration. Each phase is explained in details below.
