Revised Annex I:Stepstoforwardittothe COP • Agreement at WGD-4 tounanimouslyagree on a revised Annex I • Draft COP decisionpreparedbythesecretariat upon requestbytheChair • ConsultationofthedraftdecisionwiththeBureau (16-17 June) • Chair will writetothe UNECE Executive Secretary, attachingnew Annex andrequestingitscirculation 90 days in advanceof COP • By 2 Sept: Secretariat will circulateto all Parties

Evaluation ofpossibleamendmentstotheConventionby WGD-4 • WGD-4 reportwith Annex containingthe rationale for a „yes“ or „no“ decision on eachoftheamendmentsidentifiedby COP-7 • Body ofthereporttoreflectkeyconsiderationsandoutcomeforeachpossibleamendment • One additional sectionofthereporttoreflect all itemsthatareevaluatedas not requiring an amendment but thatshouldbefurtheraddressedbymeansof • COP Decision • COP Guidance

  4. Evaluation ofpossibleamendmentstotheConventionby WGD-4: YES • Anticipationby COP-7 thatPartieswouldat COP-8 prioritizematterswith a viewtotaking a decision on theamendmentsatCOP-9 • Between COP-8 and COP-9: furtherconsiderationofamendmentsby WGD

  5. Evaluation ofpossibleamendmentstotheConventionby WGD-4: NO • II. Recommendation by WGD-4 to COP-8 that no amendment is necessary but to address issues through • - COP Decision • - COP Guidance • COP-8 to mandate WGD or another body to develop such draft guidance/decision (e.g. on compliance, clarified strengthened reporting obligations, revised ToR subsidiary bodies) with a view of taking decisions at COP-9 • Recommendationby WGD-4 to COP-8 thatnoamendmendisnecessaryandnoneedtofurtheraddressissueimmediately • (e.g. becauseexpectedbenefittoosmalltojustifyenacting an amendment)

  6. RoleoftheBureau • Toprioritizeissuesforrecommendationtothe COP withregardto COP guidance/decisions • Toconsiderandrecommendto COP-8 whichsubsidiarybodies, groupsorprocessesmightbemostappriopriateforconsidering/negotiatingguidance/decisionsforpossibleadoptionby COP-9
