  2. Effective Portfolio Assessment Every term we will have the children document, organize, and present their own work and progress to his/her family during a special conference. This unique form of communication instills the full spectrum of accountability to the student, as well as, the teacher and family.

  3. Milestones • Art • Language Arts • Math Concepts • Science • Social/Emotional • Comprehension

  4. Parental Involvement • At the beginning of the year you will receive a Kindergarten Assessment Packet. For each term you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that you will bring with you to the conference. • You will see questions like: • Does your child love to come to school? • What do you do as a family to support learning?

  5. Why Empower Children? • We are helping children: • Assume Responsibility • Practice Organization • Assess their own learning • Practice Communication • Demonstrate goal setting and accomplishment • Voice concerns in a transparent setting

  6. Rubrics A rubric is a scoring criteria for performance tasks. Each child (and the teacher) will keep track of his/her own rubrics.
