  4. Assistant Professor  When you join in Indian University for the first time you are appointed as Assistant Professor of that subject. Associate Professor  This is the rank you get after promotion, presently after 14 years of service without break. Professor  This is the next rank of promotion after you meet certain criteria.

Education Qualification for Assistant Professor  • Good academic record with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade, on a point scale, in a master’s degree from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. • Should have cleared UGC NET Exam / CSIR UGC NET Exam conducted by National Testing Agency or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET / SET. 

  6. Education Qualification for Associate Professor  • Good academic record with a PhD degree in the concerned discipline; 55% marks or equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever grading system is followed, at the master’s level. • A minimum of eight years’ experience of teaching/ research in a position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University / Research Institution / Industry, excluding the period of research for PhD degree; should have guided research at the doctoral level and have a minimum of 5 publications as books/research papers. • Contribution to educational innovation such as the design of new curricula and courses, and technology-mediated teaching process.

  7.
