HIMSS Legislative Principles Encourage the responsible use of data at the secondary level by those with access to such data consistent with the AMIA Recommendations on Secondary Use of Data, including but not limited to: • Transparent policies and practices for the secondary use of health data; • Focus on data control rather than data ownership per se; • Consensus on privacy policy and security; • Public awareness; • Comprehensive scope (beginning with a taxonomy); and • National leadership.
