Massey commission & Report • The Massey Commission set out to investigate the effect of foreign influence on Canada’s culture. • The Report was issued in1951: It advocated that the federal government give support and provide aid to a wide range of cultural activities. • Advocacy of the spending of public funds for artistic endeavours was not seen favourably at the time.

  4. Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission - The CRTCs goal is to regulate content in Canadian broadcast media. • Quota system: That a certain percentage of all content broadcast on the airwaves must be Canadian in origin. Canadian Heritage Minutes: created to meet Canadian content standards

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/ Radio Canada • CBC is Canada's oldest existing broadcasting network: produces and distributes distinctive Canadian content • In the 1920s, a Canadian broadcasting service was establish to counter American culture. • CBC/Radio-Canada’s total government funding is aroundone billion dollars a year

National Film Board of Canada (NFB) • An agency of the Government of Canada • Produces and distributes documentaries, animation, alternative drama and digital mediaproductions (Don’t need to write this ↓) One if its main goals: - create programming reflecting Canada's linguistic duality and multiculturalism in Canada.
