  3. Surviving Cliques • Know Yourself • Be involved with activities • Speak out • Have a mind of your own • Keep social circles open

  4. Reasons “Cliques” Attract • POPULAR • Cool • Social Status • Don’t feel left out • Safer on the “Inside” than the “Outside”! CLIQUE MEMBERSHIP IS USUALLY TIGHTLY CONTROLLED BY A LEADER

  5. “BREAKFAST CLUB” ACTIVITY • Circle up in groups • Designate a Team Leader • On page 35 – give each member of your group a secret # then write a perception for each person next to his/her secret #. COVER YOUR ANSWERS!

  6. Questions/Discussion • What are the causes of Bullying and teasing in School? List 3 • List 3 reasons why Bullying in school does not get reported • List 3 Bullying behaviors that you have seen in school • Do Boys/Girls Bully the same or differently? Give 1 example of each. • List 2 ways you can stop bullying in school. • How does Bullying affect a student? • Open Discussion: on any topic (sports, friends, school, BF/GF issues, Parents, interests, World News, ask questions in your group, etc) • Who in your group surprised you the most? Why?

Cliques – Part 2 • Turn to Yesterday’s Warm-up on “Cliques”. • Designate 1 person to get a marker, a sheet of paper, and tape • Designate a Recorder for your group. • On the paper, list at least 6 Cliques at ArdreyKell. • Under each “Clique” write at least 5 Perceptions (positive or negative) for each clique. • Designate a group spokesperson
