  2. What they asked: It is January and next September we want to be implementing the Common Core State Standards – please get us there!

Short history about where came from • Focus on the CCSSMP – make a poster! • What does the teacher need to do? • What do the students need to be doing? • Grade level “focus” – (first page for each grade) • What’s the same? • What’s new? • Plan for sharing the information with peers • In teams, with their current instructional materials, what is there? • About 6 weeks to map out the information • Gave them the spreadsheet • What do the CCSSMP look like in the classroom? (2 per time)

Next 2 CCSSMP videos • Identify PD needed to make this happen at your grade in your building • Do some math! • Look at some “quality” websites • Identify “final” product components • Next 2 CCSSMP videos • Look-For-Tools • “Chunk” and order • Begin discussion about what to report - proficiency • Last 2 CCSSMP videos • Practice with Look-For-Tool and giving feedback! • Lesson plans for the first unit!

What do you know about CCSSM? • How were the standards developed and by whom? • Where did they start – top or bottom? • What are learning progressions? • What’s the big deal about the Math Practices? • How does the content spiral? • What is SBAC? • What websites are most informative? • With all of the conflicting “exemplars” – which sites can be relied on?
