Here is an example with Phineas • Leader • Athletically Gifted • Can’t believe Gene did it! • Foreshadowing of death • Courage • Cares about Gene • Smooth talker • No sports=lack of purpose
Step #3 • Find a quote, with page number, to prove your character trait assertions
Example of Step #3 • Foreshadowing: “…he looked more dead than asleep.” page 48 when Gene and Finny lay on the beach.
Step #4 • Make your Coat of Arms • Make a COA for your character. • Make sure to follow all the directions • In Medieval times the Coat of Arms was placed on banners and shields to signify a knight’s allegiance. On it was a representation of their lord’s heritage, values, and accomplishments. It was used to identify friends and foes during battle.
Step-by-step directions • Section 1: Draw an animal that you feel represents your character • Section 2: Draw a picture of your character’s greatest accomplishment • Section 3: Draw a picture of what you see your character accomplishing in life • Section 4: Draw a picture of your character’s most prized possession • Section 5: Draw a symbol of your character’s strength that is not an animal • Section 6: Draw a picture of one of the most important people to your character in the world and label them

Step #5 • Put your characters name on the cover plate • Write the title of the book on the cover plate • Write the author on the cover plate • Combine both plates with a brad.
