2. About Me! • 4th year ChE • From Houston, TX • Member of SEC since freshmen year  VP External! • Liaison between Cockrell School and Member Societies

Rep Responsibilities The mission of the Student Engineering Council is: To unite engineering students and their organizations on campus To serve as the students' representative within the Cockrell School of Engineering To provide resources to students for their initiatives that effect positive change To offer committee and leadership experience to its members • SEC is made up of • Members-At-Large • Society Representatives • Member Societies • Student Government/Senate Reps • Associate Members • Officer Group http://sec.engr.utexas.edu/ If you want more info go to our website!

5. Meetings • Reps must attend 75% of all meetings (this normally means missing no more than 2) • If you can’t make it, send a proxy but let me know • Make sure you relay the info to your org. Committees • You must attend 3 committee meetings a semester • If you can’t make meetings and are involved outside of them somehow, make sure the chair emails me with your name and what you did • I suggest attending the same meetings because then you can actually get involved • Committees you can join are:

Cheap Lunch • Chairs: Yeshua Garcia and Morgan Yung • Next meeting: Tuesday, October 9 @ 6pm in ETC 2.102 • Meetings every Tuesday at 6pm in ETC 2.102 • Every Thursday, different organizations host the event through SEC in front of ECJ • Sell 2 slices of pizza, chips, and a drink for only $3 • If you want to be one of those host organizations (get a $100 bonus for your org or 25% of sales) email cheaplunch@sec.engr.utexas.edu.

CTBAC • Chair: Kevin Yuan • The CTBAC is composed of 14 members from two groups: student body representatives and departmental representatives. • Discuss college tuition and budgets with a representative from each engineering department • If you would like to be a representative for your major, email ctbac@sec.engr.utexas.edu • Counts toward your committee points!

11. EDAM • Chairs: Stephen Shi and AnujKudva • Engineering Day at the Museum (EDAM) is an annual event that is a part of SEC's E-WEEK. At EDAM, engineering organizations and societies lead booths that teach children about engineering, math, and science through fun games and activities.  • EDAM will be held next semester in Spring 2013 • For more information about Engineering Day at the Museum, send an email to edam@sec.engr.utexas.edu or consider chairing the committee!

12. E-Week • E-Week Chairs: Chris Kelly and Kush Muzumdar • This year's National Engineers Weekhas unfortunately already passed, but E-Week is: • A friendly competition between engineering organizations! 13. E-Waste • Chairs:Danilo Pena and Zack Dotson • The goal of the electronic recycling drive is to collect household electronic items such as computers, cell phones printers, scanners, and other electronic devices. By working with Goodwill, we have been able to gather over 6400 cubic feet of electronics, a copious amount of waste from the city of Austin. • For more information email ewaste@sec.engr.utexas.edu or consider chairing the committee!

14. Freshman Engineering Committee • Chairs: Shan Modi and Howard Lin • Meetings every other Monday @ 6pm in ECJ 1.202 • Awesome for freshmen! • High involvement in this can count for Committee points if need be! • FEC is looking for mentors – to apply, email fec@engr.utexas.edu

Outreach • Chairs: Albert Chen and Devin Williams • The Outreach Committee strives to reach out to kids in grades K-12 to stimulate their interest in engineering • Go out to middle schools weekly during classes to host activities and play with kids • Invite high school students to visit UT and see what engineering life is like • Relatively new committee – they need a lot of help planning and thinking of new ideas! • outreach@sec.engr.utexas.edu

Publicity • Chairs: Jen Nordhauser and GautamAhuja • Next meeting: October 8 @ 6pm in ECJ 1.222 • Meetings every Monday @ 6pm in ECJ 1.222 • Publicity for general SEC events (including ones that your society may be hosting) • Good for someone with the knowledge or want to work with basic graphic designing things. Things like flyers, t-shirt designs, logos publicity@sec.engr.utexas.edu

17. Rivals Week • Chairs: FarzadYousefi and Tammy Pham • A week-long competition in April between Engineering and Business students – we were the champions last semester! • For more information email rivals@sec.engr.utexas.edu or consider chairing the committee!

24. Vector Requirement • Previous requirements: • Someone from each society must submit an article, cartoon, etc. to be in a Vector magazine • Someone from each society must attend a Vector committee meeting • New requirements to be voted on in the General Meeting (10/8):

Reps must submit 1 article to the second fall issue of Vector and again in the spring (one per society, so collaboration is allowed!) • Issue #2 Theme: The Year 2112 • Article ideas: • - Developing technologies; the future state of engineering • Updates on your society • Submit articles to articles.vector@gmail.com and contact vector@sec.engr.utexas.edu for questions • Reps must also take printed issues from the SEC office and distribute them to their society members. There will be a sign-in sheet next to the copies (in the SEC office) to fill out. • We only print 500 copies per issue, so please take accordingly!
