  1. JOODIE: The Smiling Coast’s Finest My name is Judith Alimatou Foon, I am 20 Years of Age and I’m from The Gambia My Project is called JOODIE: The Smiling Coast’s Finest. The Gambia is one of the smallest in mainland Africa and its not known to many. In the past years, The Gambia was seen as a minor in the Fashion world. This Project will give people an inside of my country and also our talents, tradition and styles. It has always been my desire to design unconventional and unique styles to portray to the world. This Project was inspired by the need for change in my country’s Fashion trends and styles. People keep repeating the same designs and styles. I decided to renovate those styles and bring out new ones but still with a Gambian Flare. The Fabric is made from melted beeswax mixed with paraffin, later soaked in dye to produce the output. The designs are beautifully colored and embroidered fabrics interwoven with strands of glimmering threads, embroidered to any shape or design desired.
