• Is the sentence missing a numbered argument like Arg0 OR Arg1? • Hint– the frame file will help you! • If yes, continue, • If not you’re golden
• Is the REL in question part of a co-ordination structure? i.e. is there a CCP node with aur, lekin or yadi immediately dominating the REL in question? If yes, this could be a case of GAP-pro with a shared Arg0 or Arg1 If not, continue aur verb REL
• Is the REL in question dominated by a nmod__k1inv or nmod__k2inv label? If yes, then this could be a case of RELPRO. Annotate on the noun directly above the REL (ghar) If not, continue NP: noun (e.g. ghar) nmod_k1inv REL
• If it’s neither a GAP or a REL, we need to check for the remaining 2 cases • Does the REL in question have a VGNF or VGNN tag? • If yes, continue • If not, go to slide 7
• If the REL has a VGNN or VGNF tag, then it’s likely to have a shared argument in the higher tree • Shared! This shared argument is likely to be a PRO-ARG1 or PRO-ARG2 If not, go to the next slide Verb k1 Noun REL Another arg
• REL has a VGNN or VGNF tag, a required argument Arg0 or Arg1 is missing, but no sharing is to be found • This could be a case of ‘arbitrary PRO’, where the PRO is marked on the REL
• Now it’s likely that REL has a VGF tag • Check if it’s a passive sentence (check out the passive diagnostic tests on the wiki!) • If the sentence is a passive, you’re home free. No null required • But if the sentence is not passive, continue
• The REL is a VGF and the sentence is not passive. • We have a case of pro. • Annotate pro on the REL as either pro-Arg0 or pro-Arg1 Like this!
