40,000-125,000 years ago • First settled indigenous Australians • Throughout time and into the 1500s Oceania did not develop at the same rate as the rest of the world. • They had hunter-gatherer societies for a long time and didn’t get involved or progress in the same way as Europe because they didn’t have large animals and they were geographically distant from the rest of the world.
