  2. According to the legend Bialystokcameintobeing in 1320. Thattime the Great Prince of Lithuania Gedymin was hunting in the Bialowieskaforest for deer. At nightwhen the prince was tired he tried to relaxnear the small river. The water in the river was veryclean. Gedymin was excited and he said: ” Cleanwhiteslope. We couldbuildmanorhouseorvillage”. Soon by the riveroccuredmanorhouse and later the villagecalledBialy Stok

He gave the rights to Bialystok for hisdaughterwhomaried Jan Klemens Branicki • 1691the son of Branickich Mikolaj Branicki gotBialystoktownrightsthanks to king Jan III Sobieski agreement • 1834  Bialystok was namedMachester of the North • 1919  The firstpresident of Bialystok – Józef Karol Puchalski. The town was giventhename ”Great Bialystok”

  4. 1939  Bialystok was bombarded by German army.Thebeginning of the 2nd World War 1939-1941  Bialyostokersexiled to Siberia and deepinto Russia 1944  The Red Armycame to Bialystok and fihtedto the enemy. The German Armywithdrawed, but the Russian armycame and destroyed the town 1945  Theend of the 2nd World War After 1945  Bialystok was reconstructed by Bialystokers/ A lot of peoplecame back to Bialystok and livedthere/ The culture and art started to develop/ The newbuildingswerebuilt by inhabitansts of Bialystok
