At BCC, faculty members and writing fellows participate in monthly WAC professional development seminars. Integrated Skills Reinforcement (ISR) Integrates the following skills into courses across the curriculum: • Communication skills of writing, reading, listening, and speaking • Researching information that will enhance the students’ term papers and field reports • Applying technology to college work • Critical thinking and problem solving Emphasis is placed upon early assessment of the students’ communication skills, as well as student/teacher assessment of assignments given during the semester. LETME • The Reading, Learning and Thinking Seminar is a semester-long examination of teaching innovations based upon learning theories • Participants explore and experiment with learning and teaching strategies based upon cognitive science that can be easily infused into instruction across the disciplines Contact:Dr. Harriet Shenkman, CTE Director
