Hot Dry Rock • Water is piped down to the hot dry rocks beneath the Earth’s surface and boils. • The steam formed is then piped up to the surface to be used for heating or generate electricity using turbines.
Volcanic • Water is sent to the magma beneath the Earth’s surface and boils. • Steam is used for heating or generating electricity using turbines. • Cheaper than and uses less piping than HDR.
Wind Energy • Important energy source for generating electricty. • Can convert the wind’s Kinetic energy into electrical energy. • The generator makes electricity when the wind pushes the blades around. • Copper wires and magnets inside the generator create the electricity
Wind speed increases with height above the ground. • The amount of energy produced depends on the wind speed. • Pollution free
