What is a Learning Objective? • Something toward which effort is directed: an aim or end of action • …specifies to the greatest extent possible the behavior or performance required • …includes three components: • Action to be performed • Conditions governing performance • Criteria to measure performance • WHAT and HOW
Characteristics • Consistent with purpose and goals • Clearly stated • Single, precise, action verb • Specific knowledge, skill, or attitude • Observable/measurable outcome • Realistic and doable • Appropriate for level of learner • Learner centered

Test Your Knowledge • Name the five causes of dizziness. • Given a patient case description, determine the three most likely causes of dizziness.
Examples: Levels 1-3 • Level 1 – Knowledge • Name the financial and non-financial eligibility requirements specific to the W-2 program. • Level 2 – Comprehension • Explain the financial and non-financial eligibility requirements specific to the W-2 program. • Level 3 – Application • Use CWW to accurately determine W-2 eligibility for all W-2 applications.
Examples: Levels 4-6 • Level 4 – Analysis • Identify the CWW screens that need to be reviewed when a W-2 case is failing eligibility. • Level 5 – Synthesis • Create an Employability Plan that includes SMART goals and specific activities that will help the participant reach his/her goals. • Level 6 – Evaluation • Verify that CARES has made the correct eligibility determination on each W-2 application you process.
Example with Condition • When confronted with an agitated customer (condition), the FEP will be able to calm the customer (skill outcome) so that the customer is visibly and verbally able to continue the case review (performance level).
