  2. Principle of Operation: • Non Mixing Liquids/ solids separate based on their Density difference under gravity. • Rate of separation is dependent on the residence time provided and on the laminar nature of the flow. • Lower Density liquid/ solid scum floats on the top. • Higher density liquid and solids settles down at the bottom.

  3. Needs and advantages: Needs: • Two different liquids/ solids to be separated. • Separation of two liquids/ solids to be continuous. Advantages: • Simple, easy and cost effective. • Gravity operated and hence no electricity required. • Mobile unit: A single unit can be used for a variety of applications. • No restriction on type of liquid used. • Used for all applications involving separation of two non miscible liquids/ solids with specific density difference.
