  1. No Parent Left Behind North Alabama Chapter National Society of Black Engineers

Purpose • Objective • Increase the effectiveness of parents interaction with the curriculum of their grade school children resulting in a boost of the students academic achievements • North Alabama NSBE Alumni Extension Chapter (N AL NSBE AE) and the community will serve as the conduit between the parents and the school to get information and help (in the form of tutoring, mentoring, etc) to the parents so that they can in turn assist their children with their homework.

  3. Purpose • Help children excel academically • Increase the parent teacher interaction • Provide the teachers with the necessary buffer of at home influence needed to create an overall stable environment for learning. • Approach is to place the emphasis and involvement back on the parent

  4. How • Target Audience • Huntsville City School system academic school year • Stone Middle School grades 6-8 • Coordinate meeting with the parent to assess grade and subjects the parent would need help with • Set meeting times convenient with both the volunteer and the parent to cover school work prior to when it is covered in class based on the syllabus • Serve as a resource to the parent for mentoring/tutoring • Provide Personal Development Information • Primary Source is Free Professional Development at Calhoun • http://www.hsv.k12.al.us/dept/merts/instruction/index.php
